5 Cool Business Trips

My top 5 trips from the last year.

I love to travel, and I've been lucky enough to get to take many interesting trips in my time at NewCity. Here's my top five trips taken in the last year or so.

1) Minneapolis, Minnesota to present designs to Northwestern Health Sciences University - If this list is of cool trips, Minneapolis in January has to be at the top. It was -14 degrees when Brian and I left NWHSU's alumni house to get breakfast. At that temperature, it feels like your breath is knocked out of you every time you take your first step outside. Brr!

2) Dublin, Ireland for planning sessions with with Terminal Four - This was my first trip to Europe! Many thanks to David Miller at Terminal Four for recommending O'Donoghues. Getting to hear traditional Irish music in a real Irish pub was one of the highlights of my year. (Well, that and the feisty octogenarian flirting with Melissa.) If you run into David, ask him to see video (of the music, not the octogenarian).

3) Prescott, Arizona for planning sessions with Prescott College - This one was another milestone--the westernmost point I've visited in the US and the first time I'd seen the desert. Sara, Eva and I had fun on our obligatory visit to Whiskey Row and met one of the best darn bartenders ever. Seriously. I'm not sure if he's still at the Jersey Lily Saloon, but if you're in Prescott, I'd recommend you stop by. But, be warned. Alcohol can have unusual effects at high altitudes.

4) Colorado Springs, Colorado for a sales presentation to Colorado College - What a great town and laid-back people. And, yet another milestone--the first time I got to see the Rockies. Too bad we didn't get the job. I really wanted to go back. (But, good luck to the folks from White Whale and Colorado College.)

5) Bethesda, Maryland for planning sessions with the Media Bullpen - A year ago I wouldn't have guessed that Bethesda would make it on a list like this, but it was an interesting town. Lots of moms in yoga gear and tikes in clothes more expensive than mine, but also a lot of unique shops and a challenging project. One of my favorite highlights was when Melissa, David and I stopped into Paper Source on Bethesda Avenue and grabbed the designers some fun gifts like:

• Sara's "Holy Crap" eraser

• Brian's "Munny" do-it-yourself toy by kidrobot™
